Tom Jewkes – Reps Coordinator

lgbt-reps@cusu.cam.ac.uk

Every college has an LGBT Rep, and all of these LGBT Reps form a loose network of people who know what’s going on with the students of the university. They are the first point of contact for many people with sexuality and gender issues. But who is supporting them?

My job is to support the LGBT Reps, helping to form a network of passionate, mutually-supportive and interconnected officers. My aims for this position include: setting up a range of systems to connect reps with one another and with students; to investigate the comparative policies of each college towards its LGBT reps and therefore its LGBTQ students; and to inspire an enthusiastic and mobilised university team who know and can support one another. Essentially, my role is to keep a happy and healthy intercollegiate infrastructure and, in doing so, happy and healthy college communities.
