HELLO! I’m Jamie and I’m the Bi rep for 2012 -13. I’m a 3rd year Geography student (2nd year course) at St Catharine’s and I’m representing anyone who feels attracted to more than one sex. This includes pansexual (where you’re attracted to someone regardless of their gender or sex), bisexual (where gender or sex matters but you’re attracted to both), and anyone who does not feel 100% gay. This year I’ve got two main objectives:
(1) Making CUSU LGBT more inviting and welcoming to pansexual/bisexual people who want to ‘dip their toe in the water’. It’s about trying to smooth out the binary of gay/straight and knock down the walls between the two.
(2) Representing members of all sexualities (which includes straight people) who are interested in queer issues or politics – after all, 75% of Britons and 52% of Americans now support same-sex unions or marriage, and certainly most of those are not gay!
Feel free to drop me an email if you want to talk about anything, from coming out to relationships or sex. I’ve dated both girls and boys in Britain and Japan, and while I can give advice, I’ll never try to force you to do something or change your opinion. I’m looking forward to representing and hearing from you, particularly if you have suggestions or complaints about CUSU LGBT.
